Today we used cranberries and toothpicks for math. Everyone drew a square, triangle and rectangle using their template. Next they had to decide how many cranberries they would need to make the shape. Then they had to decide how many cranberries they would need to create 3D shapes, a cube, a rectangular prism and a pyramid. Finally they could build their structures and see if their estimates for cranberries were accurate. After they built their shapes, they could continue to build. They then worked together to make elaborate group structures and gave them names.

We were reviewing place value skills while coding the Bee-Bots. Students had to locate the number based on place value clues, and then write code to make the bee move to the correct spot.
One group wrote 2 different codes to get to the same number.
We also were working on our double facts while playing a game of Tic Tac Toe.
During Reader's Workshop, reading partners were sharing the nonfiction books they had read.
